APX NEXT: Platform UX (ViQi + Touchscreen + Apps)
APX NEXT is a smart radio platform that pairs mission-critical voice with a modern touchscreen interface and a suite of connected applications—so users can access what they need quickly, with minimal distraction.
Overview
APX NEXT wasn’t “just a radio.” It was a platform shift: a modern, connected device experience designed to protect user focus with logical menus, large touch targets, and fast navigation, plus a connected suite that extends capabilities beyond traditional P25 voice.
My work spanned the experience across ViQi voice interaction, the touchscreen UI, and the broader ecosystem of apps and services that support setup, updates, and fleet management.
What I Worked On
- ViQi (Voice UX): voice-first interaction patterns and governance for eyes-up operation
- Touchscreen interface: UI structure, menu logic, and interaction design for fast navigation
- Effortless usability: reducing friction with clearer information hierarchy and larger touch targets
- Connected suite: UX alignment across connected applications that support coverage, updates, and fleet operations
