Product Innovation & Experience Strategy
20+ years helping organizations turn complex customer needs, workflows, technology, and business constraints into scalable products and services. Former Director of Devices UX & Service Design at Motorola Solutions, leading global teams across enterprise platforms, connected devices, AI-assisted experiences, and backend service ecosystems.
Three enterprise innovation programs showing how customer workflows, product strategy, emerging technology, and cross-functional execution were translated into scalable products and services.

APX NEXT + ViQi
From Field Workflow to Product Innovation
Public safety personnel work in environments where attention is scarce and interaction failure can carry real consequences. APX NEXT created an opportunity to rethink how officers access information and connected capabilities — not simply redesign a radio.
I led experience strategy across voice, touch, apps, and connected services, partnering with Product and Engineering while using customer research, prototyping, and validation to reduce product risk.
ViQi used voice interaction to reduce dependence on manual navigation during hands-busy, eyes-up situations.
A unified experience across voice, touch, and connected capabilities — work recognized internally with Motorola Solutions’ Innovation of the Year award.

MOTOTRBO Ion
Simplifying Enterprise Deployment at Scale
MOTOTRBO Ion moved radios from single-purpose hardware to a business-ready Android device — unifying voice and broadband data. Android’s flexibility came at a cost: permissions, setup steps, and variability that worked against task-focused enterprise operations.
I redesigned the first-start and deployment experience, reduced setup friction, and established reusable interaction patterns and governance standards across releases.
The workflow problem wasn’t cosmetic — it was blocking a desired business outcome: shipping devices directly to customers instead of routing every deployment through a partner for setup.
Simplified onboarding, fewer setup errors, and a new, more scalable direct-to-customer deployment model.

RadioCentral
Consolidating Fragmented Workflows Into One Enterprise Platform
Fleet administrators and technicians were moving across disconnected backend tools to deploy, program, maintain, and monitor devices — increasing training burden, slowing work, and raising the risk of errors.
I championed RadioCentral as a workflow and service transformation initiative — not simply a new interface — and built a dedicated services design team to lead it.
We mapped end-to-end journeys across deployment, programming, and maintenance, and defined a reusable framework of patterns to unify previously disconnected tools.
Fragmented backend tools consolidated into a single scalable platform, with analytics introduced where none had existed before.
Customer Innovation & Cross-Functional Leadership

Cross-role focus groups and field research translated into experience priorities and roadmap decisions.
Strategic workshops
Product, Engineering, and UX alignment sessions that turned ambiguous problems into shared direction.
Product/Engineering alignment
Architecture and delivery partnership that kept experience and feasibility connected.
Global team leadership
Facilitation across four international regions to scale consistency and trust.
Executive communication
Translating research and design decisions into terms leadership could act on.
How I Approach Product Innovation
Start with the workflow, not the technology.
Understand where customers lose time, encounter risk, or work around the system before deciding what to build.
Connect customer needs to product strategy.
Translate field insight into clear product opportunities, priorities, and future-state experiences.
Validate before scaling.
Use research, prototypes, and usability validation to reduce risk before large engineering investment.
Look for repeatable patterns.
Turn successful solutions into scalable capabilities, standards, and product frameworks.
Partner across functions.
Bring Product, Engineering, Research, business leaders, and customers together around shared outcomes.
Experience Beyond Enterprise Technology
Since leaving Motorola Solutions, I have applied the same human-centered, systems-thinking approach through LB Visionary Experiences, a strategy and design business focused on real estate, remodeling, smart-home integration, and customer decision-making. The domain changed; the core discipline — understanding people, workflows, technology, and complex decisions — remained consistent.
